Week Spending #2

Posted by Mare | 8/16/2008 | , , | 2 comments »

What a busy week! I can't believe I haven't posted......Between football practices and getting ready for the new school year, this week flew by! I still keep track of our spending. We did much better this week however it's still high. This is really going to help at the end of the month to figure out what I need to do. So here's the breakdown:

Restaurant: $49.65
Food: $78.46
Fuel: $37.72
FAO: $16.50
BJ'S Wholesale: $34.98
Target: $62.57

TOTAL: $279.88

Much better than last week but still too high for me. Now the details, Restaurant spending is due to not being more organized and prepared with our meals. This will be a goal this week to have each meal planned. Doing that will bring our food/restaurant total down significantly. FAO is a purchase I made through my networking group and it's a Christmas present for our daughter. BJ's is diapers and wipes for our two youngest and this will last about a month. And then Target I will put in entertainment since it was a toy for our daughter and then we got a Wii game. We originally went their to get one of those kid chairs for our youngest because our daughter has one and those two are constant fighting over who sits in it. They ended up not having any, so that will probably be and expense for this next week.

And tonight we are supposed to go out to eat with our friends we haven't seen in a while...that will be our biggest spending this week, but we just have to remember not to go overboard.

Ok goals for this week:

  • Plan meals for the week
  • DO NOT go to Target
  • Ebay & Craigslist

I also decided NOT to sign up for a gym just yet. I'm going to start with a running program because I only need to buy running shoes. And if I stick with it great! Then I know I will stick with a gym program. So now until the end of the year I will work out here and then sign up for a gym in the new year when they run all the specials.

Hey Mare, Great tracking of your expenses. Tracking is such an important step as you already know. I have to say if it weren't for meal planning, I am not sure where my money would be. Planning out each meal for the week has saved us a ton of money. Good luck with the running, I had to give up running--me knees :o(

I know what you mean about the knees, but I'm hoping with GOOD shoes they will be okay. Of course if they hurt worse I will stop and see what else I can do :)
