Over this weekend I was looking every where online for some great ideas to save money. Here is what I came up with.
- Unplug everything that is not in use.
- Watch your grocery sale ads and use coupons to match those sales.
- Menu Plan according to whats on sale for the week.
- Have a veggie bowl for the freezer, any left over veggies throw them in there then when the bowl is full use them for stew.
- Set your thermostat lower.
- Men, cut your own hair.
- Combine errands to save on gas.
- Line dry your clothes.
- Call your service provider (cable, phones, etc) tell them to cut back service to minimum or tell them you want to cancel, they may be able to get you a discounted rate.
- Use a timer for showers.
- Put a brick in the toilet tank.
- Pack lunches and use your leftovers.
- Keep lights off during the day - open blinds and curtains, use the natural light.

Great tips, how about having a vegetarian meal each week to cut back on meat? Or you could try to recreate the convenience foods found at the store. For instance I found that when we didn't have leftovers ready for my dh to take for lunch he would either take canned soup or a burrito or hot pocket. So in late summer I bought the ingredients to make a large batch of black bean burritos and a batch of cajun lentil soup. I got 8 servings of soup I believe and 20 burritos. For less than half what I would have paid (on sale with coupons) for the premade items.
These are great tips Mare!
good tips!I really like the 'keep a bowl in the freezer for leftovers' idea, also trying to buy stuff in bulk helps a lot.
Great ideas! I try to talk dh into turning off lights, esp during the day...I think he might be scared of vampires or something and wants all the lights on...
:)
